RIM To Launch BlackBerry Storm 2 smartphone with BlackBerry OS 5 in India

Recently, Research In Motion announced to launch of the BlackBerry Storm 2 smartphone with BlackBerry OS 5 in India. The phone will be priced at Rs. 31990 in Indian market. BlackBerry Storm2 will be available across more than 60 cities in India through Redington’s national retail distribution channels.

Frenny Bawa who is the Managing Director of Research In Motion in India said, “Powered with the latest SurePress technology and BlackBerry OS 5, the new BlackBerry Storm2 offers customers a powerful and unique mix of advanced communications and multimedia features in a smoothly designed smartphone that will appeal to both consumers and business professionals.” The statement was published in telecomtalk.info, a telecom informative online news portal. According to the statement, the phone will appeal consumers and business professionals both.

BlackBerry Storm 2 is made with premium finish with sloped edges, chrome accents, glass lens and stainless steel backplate. It has large screen of 3.25 inch. It has touch-screen based menu features.

BlackBerry Storm2 supports UMTS/HSPA, uad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM and Wi-Fi® networks. It comes with 3.2 MP camera with variable zoom, autofocus, flash and video recording.

BlackBerry Storm 2 mobile phone has 2 GB of onboard memory and 16 GB microSD/SDHD memory card slot. It comes with built-in GPS, Bluetooth® (2.1), A 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, iTunes®, Windows Media®, location-based applications and access to BlackBerry App World™.

BlackBerry Storm 2 handset contains many categories of entertainment also such as games, entertainment, IM and social networking, news, weather, productivity and more. The phone is featured with background noise suppression technology. It offers 256 MB of Flash memory also.

BlackBerry Storm 2 will be the biggest achievement of RIM in Indian mobile phone market. The phone is high priced so, it will target only middle class and upper class consumers in Indian market. Despite it the price range, the phone will attract youth and younger generation also. Nokia 2730 classic and Nokia 5230 will be the bigger competitor for the mobile phone.
